DVD Writer won't recognize blank media

Hi all... After working great for a few weeks, my LG Super Multi DVD Rewriter has suddenly stopped recognizing blank DVD-R media. It still works fine with burning music or data to CDR, but when I decode a DVD and try to burn it (I've tried AoA DVD, Nero, and DVDShrink), when it comes time to burn it asks for me to insert a blank DVD into the drive. I've also tried a few different brands of blank DVDs, but nothing is working. I've written to LG to ask for updated drivers for the unit (no driver install disc came with it, but after installing their software bundle it had been working fine.)
I uninstalled all the software, uninstalled the drive itself from the system and started all over, but I'm still having the same problem. It's driving me out of my mind, I hope someone could share some insight?? Thanks in advance, Jay

      nero log

thanks chewy! i'm hoping the drive isn;t dying too, i've only had it a short while... i checked the threads you suggested and got some log files to post... to keep it as simple as i can, i'll post my nero log here and my infotool log in the next reply. none of this stuff in the log means much to me, i don't know what's what... any help from anyone would be great, and will more than likely save me from putting my head through my monitor...

the latest entry in my nero logfile is:

all right... i couldn't find anything on the LG site for "drivers", but i did find and install a firmware update and restarted. i also ran the incd cleaner... i'm going to reboot now and see if the firmware update did anything good for me... i appreciate your input, greatly... anything i have to do next?
