I didn't buy a external case that was supplied with power by the USB cable.
usb doesn't supply enough power for that, an external laptop hard drive is ok

Oh, thought I read somewhere in reviews at newegg that it does.

It was my first time to try it like that.

That's one of the problems with laptops already, not enough power.

you must have seen the models where the power adapter is in the case, I like that feature, but it's more heat

                  Serial # For Nero

I upgraded to the new version of Nero and is getting that same error. What if I have a version of Nero on disc, but I don't have any idea of what version it is, can I uprgrade back to the 6.6.0.18 so that my dvd shrink and nero will burn correctly? Or how can I revert back to that version, but I don't have a serial # to put in. Please help, this is plucking my nerves be/c I don't know what to do.

uninstall nero and run the clean tool, then reboot and install the older version of nero from your disk, then upgrade with the one from this thread

if nero let you upgrade to 6.6.1.4 then the version here will work once it sees your oem version from your disk installed

                      Serial # for Nero

I understand I can download that 6.6.0.18 version, but I am still going to need the serial #, can anybody give me that #? If I install the old version from the disc and upgrade from the the thread am I going to need the serial #? And am I going to get the whole nero suite with it?

                        Serial # for Nero

If I use the disc to install nero and upgrade to the 6.6.0.18 thread will I still need the serial #? And will I get the whole suite like I have now? i don't want the 6.6.1.4, that is why I am having this problem now. I don't see the thread and how can I upgrade without upgrading all the way to the newest one? Can I choose what version I want to upgrade to and what is the download for the clean tool? I also have dvd shrink and imgburn, do I need to uninstall them and reinstall them too?

How do I get the serial # for 6.6.0.18? Does anyone have that or know where I can get that? Need it desperately to reinstall this version of nero.

Uninstall the Nero you have now (6.6.1.4), then do an install from the disc that you have. Your serial# will appear during that install, write it down. After you have installed from the disc come to this thread & update through the link supplied.

Experiencing the Error ONLY with Single Layers

                              Greetings:

After reading all of your most excellent postings on this subject, I reverted my Nero back to 6.6.0.18 and expected all of my problems to be solved. Unfortunately, I am unable to burn to single-layer discs only.

BTW, these files were originally ripped using DVD Shrink and can each movie be viewed in a media player with no problem. Attempt to burn it, and you get a different story.

                              Any suggestions?

                              Thanks!

Have you enable burning with Nero ticked in DVD Shrink?

When selecting the output, are you selecting burning with Nero?

Can you attach a Nero log? (See my signature on how to attach your last log).
