Hi

I did some tests with new version. I also did some errors

1) I started create data disc from menu and it did the test in the "traditional way", i.e. without new features (CPU usage and buffer). The example is first image attached here. There is no burn pic because of my error. When I started test I selected "Create disc" tab and graph was created in "Benchmark" tab, so I wasn't able to save image.

2) To create a data disc first must be selected "Create Disc" tab, and then test must be run from the "Start" button, and not from Menu --> Burn image file, or will happen the same thing that happened to me (see above on item 1)

3) I suggest to customize colors because default one for "Buffer" is not easily readable. I changed it with Yellow (personal choice: I think that is more readable in this way )

4) For benq burners is now possible to select 8x scan speed in P-CAV modality instead of 8x CAV. In this way (second scan) scan speed reach 8x much faster than with 8x CAV (see difference with the first image, where scan speed start @2x and rise up to 8x in the end of disc)

Do the results of the test depend on the speed used for the test? If so what speed should i be testing the quality for? If there is already a post on this I'm sorry, but a link would be appreciated

thanks for the reply, looks like i'm having problems with verbatim discs like discussed in previous posts even while burning at 2.4x. Getting quality of less than %50

What verbatim are? If you burn a 16x certified media @2,4x is really easy to obtain a coaster.

If your burner do support it, I suggest you to burn these discs @8x. Some people obtain great results burning them also @12x.

If these media are MCC003, 8x it OK, but if you want also 4x should be fine. 2,4x, in my opinion, is not good at all.

That's something I would have never thought about, would have expected slower burn to equal better quality. Thanks for the input And yes, they are MCC003. Going to give 8x a try!

Latest media don't follow anymore the old rule "slower is better". With nowdays media the best option is to burn around their certified speed to obtain best results.

And this is why an old burner (4x or 2x) give bad results with 16x media. Too bad firmwares for these drives are not more updated, and the only way to obtain good results with old burners is to buy slower media (more difficult to find because of largest availability of high speed certified media)
