    Dvd burner abruptly malfunctioning

    Hello everyone, I have a gateway latptop my dvd burner info is (HL-DT-STDVD-RW GCA-4080N;0G32) I have burned hundreds of dvds and now its wont burn a dvd and for the life of me I can not figure it out. I can Burn regular cds but when I try to burn Dvd's i get a write error. I tried uninstalling my dvd burner and uninstalling nero 6 and letting my computer re install the dvd burner and im getting the same error. And adive? im also getting a system ASIP error. the actual write error is (write error (030c00))

    Hi and welcome to the forum

    There are two separate lasers on optical pickup: one for CD and another for DVD. If you can't burn anymore DVD but you have no problems with CD is possible that your drive is damaged.

    Try to burn a different disc to exclude a media issue.

      hmm thats what i was affraid of...best buy warrenty should cover something like that right? il try and find a different disk if i have one. thanks for the welcome
