Your external doesn't show up on your IDE channels but will probably be under one of your USB connections in the Device Manager. I will try to find out how to check for DMA setting on an external nurner or else I'm sure someone that does have an external may post you with the answer.

So the USB externals' rate is set permanently to whatever the system can manage thru the connection?

Nothing to be scared about, your internal is fine . And if like Chewy says, the external doesn't use DMA (wow I learned something today, I never had any DVD drives or hard drives connected via USB) so I think your fine there as well.

Yes anydvd does load at startup. This is good or bad?

It's an HP a1206n w/lightscribe burner. Just bought it around Thanksgiving last year.

"ur hard drive should be a serial one? but is listed on an ide controller"
I'm not sure what that means but I take it it's not a good thing.

                      Thanks,

checked the specs and it's as I thought, anydvd must be tricking windows and nero info tool.

I guess we'll chaulk this all up to virtual reality(slysoft)

Thanks, so are you saying that everything is ok? My burners have the right dma settings and are set as master and slave right? Should I change the anydvd to not open on start up if thats possible?

I forgot to mention that after I bought the computer I did have a computer guy reformat it. I wanted to keep the stuff from my old computer, (I thought files and programs) but he said I couldn't keep the programs just files. So anyway he reformatted it and put all the stuff from my old computer in another drive. At least that's what i think he did lol! It really didn't fix my problem because most of the stuff was created with programs I don't have anymore so I can't open it away!!

Thanks for everyones help and encouragement! With all your help, I might end up knowing something about computers yet!!!!
