Which Nero 6 is the best??

I have been away from DVD burning for a while.

I have Nero 6.6.0.16

I upgraded to Nero 6.6.1.4

then I read that there were many errors with it so i should go back to
Nero 6.6.0.18

so I uninstalled 6.6.1.4 and installed 6.6.0.18

Currently I have 6.6.0.18

Which Nero should I use

I upgraded to 6.6.1.4 after 2 or 3 other versions, I had several glitches,
the worst was having to force a closing of nero after a copyonthefly burn.
Not taking any chances I ran the general clean tool, then installed 6.6.0.18.
Everything is peachy. I might try 6.6.15 when and if it comes out.

The biggest difference between "0.18" and "1.4" is that 1.4 wont burn directly from Shrink. If you learn to burn manually, then 6.6.1.4 is the way to go. The new nero has ultrabuffer which grabs your available RAM to help with the problem of underbuffering.

I like burning manually because it gives me control. I like to watch the actual burn speed. There is a regedit trick to make Nero show actual write speed.

Have you tried a copy on the fly with it?

No I never have. I have an AMD3100 processor and I think it is too slow.

But I have copied CDs on the fly and the results are average.

The best I ever have done is burn 2 DVDs at once at 4X. Both were burning the same movie. The NEC scored a 98 and the LG GSA 4163 a 96. I was impressed with this because my kids ruin a new DVD in about a week.

6.6.0.8 is very stable too fellas

GD, my experiments were cof at 16x, burn 2 different disks at 8x from 2 hard drives and then have a race with nero and imgburn

I wish I had the money for the speed and drives but i do not. When it comes to burning, I like to err on the side of caution because too many things can screw up a burn. When I first started burning DVDs, it was quantity NOT quality. Today it is only quality. I reviewed some of my first burns on DVD-Rs and the highest was in the 40s. Some are even unreadable.

try setting dvdd to 4x read with the LG and see what happens

I was scanning at 5X in CD/DVD Speed and they failed. So I did a reading test at 4X with the NEC and every data block after 3.1GB failed. It is not important now as I have the original and I will just redo it sometime in the future.
