    UGH...."No devices detected" when burning

This just happened today.....I've been burning without any issues for months' with my external dvd burner (hooked up with a usb to my laptop)...

Today when I open up IMG Burn or DVD Decrypter to burn my ISO file it says "No devices Detected" under Destination. Thus the the "copy" tab is greyed out, so nothing can be burned. I looked under the properties tab of my DVD external drive (:E) and nothing seems amiss.

Of course I've done the usual stuff like unplug my external dvd burner...and remove and then reinstall IMG Burn and DVDD... STILL THE SAME "No Devices Detected" message.

ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY VERY APPRECIATED...THANKS, SMILEY

system restore didn't work either... this is really strange. I can't burn anything. None of my burning programs (sonic, dvdd, nero) recognize that I have a drive (device). I have both an internal and external dvd drive.

I can, however, play a dvd...and can also use shrink. I just can't burn.

      ???????????????????????

yes...it's always been set to "administrative". Yesterday, we had a server update and and had to shut down and relog onto to a new "Domain". I wonder if these changes also affected security changes to our computers. UGGGH!

Have you tried anything else on your usb port? Have you tried your usb burner on another computer?
