This error happens sometimes but i can't work out what situations it's caused by.

This is the first time i've looked at the log so all the other failed ones weren't in the log.

Everything is updated and the media is good quality so i don't know what else could be wrong.

Oh yeah DMA is ON! In Device Manager it's under "NVIDIA nForce2 ATA Controller (v2.6)"
    It says "Ultra DMA 2 - Ultra33"

    welcome to the forum

    Disc Manufacturer: RITEKG - 05

    the media is good quality
no, it's not, actually very inconsistent, out of 20-30 disks I burned a year ago
only 1 was still worth a durn

    nvatabus
nvidia drivers for ide on burners are often very buggy, windows default is much safer

    Physical memory : 1023MB (1048052kB)
    Free physical memory: 378MB (387196kB)
a lot of stuff running in the background

      Thanks for the quick reply.

I think the most likely thing is the nvidia drivers.

I've burnt plenty of RITEKs with no problems.
I've burnt plenty of things with other programs running and it doesn't affect it.

So i should uninstall the nvidia IDE drivers... yeah burning was ok a year ago, but i don't know if it was before or after i installed the drivers.

Oh yeah the first problem was that it couldn't do DVD-copy. It would copy and burn without errors, but the DVD would only have the first 100 MB or so and the rest would be all zeroes. Normal compilations worked.

Then it started working with Nero 7 but this error started. I haven't had any errors with DVD-Decrypter.

Yeah i was wondering how to uninstall them
It rolled back fomr v2.6 to v2.5 but just to be safe i uninstalled it.
Windows installed v2.5 again so i guess that's the windows default.

          thanks for all your help

try to see if you can roll back from 2.5
this is what you want to end up with

the nvidia drivers v2.5 was the best i could roll back to

              anyway it still doesn't work.

nero uses about 250MB of RAM which is why my RAM looks like it's so full

i don't know if it has anything to do with it but i get exactly 100 "queue again later" messages in the log file

and i found a firmware v1.22 but it still fails

and it fails near the end (i wasn't watching it so i don't know how many % it got up to), i think 99%

here's the exact same problem (scsi -1135 error) with different software, drivers, and pioneer 109

and which is the second most popular burning program after nero? i think i should try another program for a while and see if it fails.

                ReadBuffer-Pipe got 262144KB of Memory
Windows is not using the other 390 MB
I would estimate over 100megs of extra processes running

I had a lot of issues with dvd burns and my NF2 chipset(mostly time related)
my ide controller now shows standard dual channel pci ide controller

I COF at 8x between standalone masters in ~ 9 minutes

I went for this used mobo for a stable overclock of an amd 2600 mobile cpu
                asus a7n8x v2 dlx

ImgBurn but it's using the same SETI interface that nero 7 uses

my burning is the right speed

so i'll probably have to reinstall windows to get rid of the drivers

by instinct i thought the nvidia drivers are better because they know their hardware better, and ppl are always complaining about windows bugs (but i haven't had many bugs at all after win98)

yeah same motherboard a7n8x deluxe v2.0

yeah with nothing running it's 200+MB RAM
and is it ok running processes while burning as long as your burning speed is not affected?

but it might be a nero bug
i thought ImgBurn can only burn images. I need to be able to put whatever files i want

you may be right about bad media... but it's annoying the only way to know is to burn more coasters
but doesn't the error log give any useful information?

does MEDIUM_ERROR refer to media? and shouldn't DVDs be able to skip bad sectors and continue writing on the next part of the disc? i thought that would be one of the first forms of error resilience

try add and remove programs for nforce drivers and/or rollback the nvtbus controller ide mother
when I reloaded windows after my problems(sil 3112/big issue with corrupted
files) got the good new driver for raid chip and then only loaded a couple of things that sp2 didn't have(sound/lan?)
damn asus site has drivers for xp but I know they are for xp 0 and xp sp1

that sil driver should be 2004/1.0.0.51 thank goodness for cdfreaks
                    asus is using .27 ?

and everyone said it was just a bad chipset
