one (stupid) question...can media quality scans be different after a few months?what i wanted to ask is - does "aging" effect those scans?
how reliable is read scan?i had a ritekg05 i wanted to watch, but couldnt,it couldnt stop freezing, then ran it through readscan - showed everithing ok.at media quality scan it found major failures to pink graph coloursComment

sonic,
that when you want to reburn, while it's still readable but when it's still going bad. The ritek G05's are the best example of burns going bad in months.
Quite a few people over at cdfreaks have documented it. But then I had one
G05 that still scans a 90 after 2 years. YMMVComment

yes,i read somewhere that the quality of those varies, but from my experience,i cant encourage anyone to buy those, they are literary falling apart...Comment

@chewy, as to why i'm still using the 812 see this thread, and any one else who has opinion too: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=66412 .
Someone once told me that burns @6x don't do very well, but time and time again i get better ones using it, rather than 8x, with 8x media. with the 16x media 12x seems to work best but I have had very little of the 16x stuff as i just recently got the 16x burner (see thread above).
Here is the latest scan from my burn. The second one is a test with the liteon to see what it would do with 2.4x media, it did burn @ 2.4x but did not like it in the end.If you use these forums you will not have to face that...

dman,
Your new liteon may not burn like it ought to, immature firmware, but always use it to scan, it was a close call for me, wait for my benq 1650 or buy your liteon, unfortunately liteon makes great scanners not burners. Cross check the same disk in your new liteon, it will scan better, go with that.
btw jm is the resident liteon specialist
there is a rule always scan with what you burn, I think that rule is simplistic and flawedComment
