        @ Chewy

Updated firmware, made no significant difference in tests. They look pretty much the same as before firmware change.

I was pretty sure of that after you mentioned the double ide controllers,
schihzophrenic computers might cause all kinds of problems with the bus.
Did we ever work on that before or was that someone else?

I see another guide in the making

I started asking about it in this thread. Never really figured it out.

My burns were O.K. as far as play back so I figured everything was O.K., I never knew about the nero tests then.

Got any suggestion? I've unistalled all of them, primary, secondary and standard duals but they always all come back when I restart the pc.

            Thanks,

well after seeing that burn time and that create data disk graph with your newer 16x burner burning premium 16x media at 3x, something is broke?

shoulda spotted it in that nero log of the 6x burn, 24 minutes

download and run that dev filter tool(free stuff)
              post those upperlower things again(filters)

                coda,
I think I got a good lead over at cdfreaks on your external drive problem,
                it's aspi related?

What programs do you burn with on the laptop? post a nero burn log if you have one from the laptop

                  Chewy,
I used Clone DVD 2 (haven't used this in over a year), DVDD and Imgburn(Imgburn primary burn software). I still have Sonic. I've only used it to make compilation DVDs about 3x.
I don't have Nero on my laptop.

well it's not dvdd or imgburn hiding the drive from cdspeed,
pretty sure it's sonic, might also be clone dvd 2

see if you can post a upper/lower filter driver

JM got me confused 2 mids E01 and M01 both 16x dvd+r? Well that's a good sign that we aren't that familiar with cmc mid's

                        your scans confirm this page

                        but what about this one?

                        3RD CLASS MEDIA:
Quality can be very questionable, about 50-80% success rate. These are discs best suited for small burns (under 2GB of data). Be prepared for failed burns. Also be prepared for various DVD-ROMs and players to not see the disc or freeze up because the player cannot read it very well (not the same as a bad burn). Many of these are known for sham marketing ("archival grade" and whatnot)

I guess our methods are flawed, I have burned 10 M01's in a row, all scan OK, all play OK

have you been hanging out with the dark lord or the sith?

that's like a who's who from the dark side or mordor?

I would suspect nero would have big problems, like sending frodo to Mt doom

Like all bad guys they don't die easy, start in add and remove programs,
my motto is: "If you don't use it, lose it!"

another one if you never install it, you don't have to remove it
