do you have the xp cd?

usb1 speed is like 0.7X burn speed dvd about 90 minutes to burn a full dvd

might be worth a try to uninstall all those related programs then do a little
low level cleaning and reinstall a bare minimum and test burning, dvdd and imgburn are fine, but something is hosing the bus. You dma is fine?????

I try to use the Registry Booster do fix the 200+ errors it found but the trial version will only fix 15. I don't know what most of these errors even mean.

I've been trying to think back about when the burns started taking so long and I'm not sure but I think they may have always taken that long. I tried a system restore but I could only go back to April so it didn't change anything.

When you say "related programs" do you mean any programs shown in the Registry Booster?

What can I do for low level cleaning? I use the Ccleaner program,I ran the roxio zap, I've defragged, I've deleted Sonic, (all but label program), musicmatch, clone dvd. I've got about 45% free space on my C drive, is that too little and would it make a difference in burn speed?

let's check the driver issue, hit that driver tab and let's see if that's what's causing the schitzy behavior.

The driver tab on the primary, secondary, or both? Or are you talking about a different driver tab? I know both the primarys have the same info but the secondarys differ a little.

Sorry I lack on the computer skills, but I'm trying to learn!

          Thanks for your patience!

I tried to figure out the whole master/slave set up one time but somehow got lost along the way. I assume that's what you are talking about, the master drive? Maybe not, this would be the better ?

Where do I find the info you want.

under ide controller there should be another listed besides primary and secondary, mine is called via busmaster ide controller, this controls the primary and the secondary

That scan belongs in the scan thread, beautiful burn, the top graph is one of the prettiest nec 3550 scans I have seen. That nec is a good scanner,
most exagerate the PIE 2 or 3 times more than that. We all know it a good burner.

The burn at half the rated speed seems to be a bad rule of thumb, shame on you yoda! burning at 50% over the rated speed, I guess there are exceptions to every rule
