So Just try to burn On Memorex and Verbatim and do a print screen of the image burn when it reaches the highest transfer rate? Or there is a way to do logs on imageburn?

just stick a blank in and open imgburn, it will show the allowable burn speeds

          just copy and paste

          no burn

there's a chance that cdspeed is not supporting your drive right

            Supported Write Speeds: 4x, 8x

You are probably right. I dont think Nero dvdspeed works properly.

Because it took 15min to do a burn test (4x), but I can usually burn in 9-10 min when I set my burn speed to 8x with nero express.

I had a hard time finding much on that burner on google, mostly people wanting a firmware update, most were HP computers

the transfer test is pretty good tho, as long as it's nice and smooth you know you are getting a good burn, course lg's tend to read very well

                Interesting.

I burned Same movie on Memorex (crappy) and on Verbatim (Great) disks. Same ISO, Nero and Same Speed.

the Transfer test looks smooth on both. but its TWICE faster on Memorex than on Verbatim.

this kind of weird behavior is the firmware and why people were trying to find a new update

I think you need to stick to 12x with that blank

                          Thank you guys.

Is it ok that it surges like that? Will it affect the burn at all? I think I will slow it down to 8x.

I think I should just get 300-400gig SATA Internal drive. That would cure all these anomalities.

most geeks buffer a burn by transfering the files to an internal drive first

ripping to an external is bad enough, doing a transcode from external to internal is the way to go as it's so slow anyway, then burn from that.

externals are good for holding a lot of mp3's etc or even backing up the finished movies to just in case you find out the burn screwed up
