    Pioneer DVD117 firmware update

I have an internal Pioneer DVD ROM DVD 117 drive. (I burn with an external burner.)
    1) Should i bother to update the ROM drive? (it reads all the new disks ok.)
2.) i used dvdd to find out that my firmware is behind. I am on 1.03, latest is 1.07
    3. If I should update, where can i get update. The links dvdd sends me to do not work, except one, which seems to be for win 98. I have xp.
    Thanks, J

Yes. I went specifically to this link,
      http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?...IONEER+DVD-117 ,
which is where dvdd sent me. It has the problems mentioned in my first post above.
      Is there another source? Thanks

Sorry jam, but you can always rely on a wookie. They are navigational experts.

Chewy, thanks. I downloaded it. Let you know how it works out.

However, from the read me instructions, looks like i have to go into dos and do a lot of stuff. But instructions seems directed to win98 users.
Do you know, because i am XP, do i have to play around in dos (been awhile for me and dos).
As i recall, last time i installed new firmware for my Sony burner, it was not dos complicated.

for pure dos on any computer just make a startup disk, floppy format startup disk, put the files you need on there after windows makes it. Go into bios set
floppy to boot, reboot with floppy in drive. type out or write down the commands
