The lowest PIF's I've ever gotten with my new burner is 36, I posted that burn on post#502 in this thread. I like the lil tip Soup gave me about changing the compression settiings in dvd shrink to 4264 instead of 4464. It's really helped my burn quality on the sony MIT's that I use for my daughters movies. I was getting lots of probs at the end, edge of the disk. Too bad that when I run cd speed, my lite-on burner doesnt like PIF's of 2, hence only a top QS score of 95. Oh well, good enough for me!!!

As you can see my Samsung is the same as yours for PIF reading, NEC will let the higher readings go when they spike individually getting the "99".

I did a few tests on some old Sony MIT and noticed if there were problems, it was beyond the 4gig area.

Exactly the problem I was having, not burning by the edge has worked wonders for my burns with that media type.

I just upgraded to the LiteOn PSOC fw with C0deKings 16X OS RS tweaks and heres a scan of Staples 16X media made in Taiwan CMC MAG MO1 burned at 12X. First burn with new firmware.

looks like 8x would be my max burn speed for that combination

I used the shown setting in ImgBurn to burn the first one.





Edit: The first one didn't get above 8.1X, the disc was rated 4X & 8X.

Before I switched firmware for my lite-on burner my scans of disks were getting better and better in the pif department, as low as 36. Now they seem to be on the rise, sometimes in the 500 range and never below 100. Was wondering if anyone knew of any tweaks for if anyone has tried out the psoc firmware. psob allowed me to enable online hypertuning, but nothing seems to be tuning in as of yet.
Ive been burning from the same media spindle, tyo2's.....and have tried multiple burning speeds and such, but no luck getting more consistant burns, any advice?
