well blitz, crude as our tools may be, I suspect you are applying the scientific method and finding that most rules of burning are generalizations

Save those verbatims for better projects, you won't be that lucky with a lot
            of batches.

I would burn at 12X and scan at 8X with that combo

                    Imation 1-8x DVD+R. Burned @4x with NEC 3550A 1.07.
Nice QS but those high spikes show the lower quality.

BTW:This thread will never die as long as I'm still here

I just tested a movie out with DVD Flick and I thought, "what better media to try than these ILO 8X -R's from wally world to use as test media..." They won't identify in Imgburn, CD Speed or DVDInfo Pro...dunno who makes 'em, but they don't seem to be too bad.

EDIT: Oh gawd...I put a blank disc in the drive and they ID'd.

                          Pre-recorded Information:
                          Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG. AE1

                          Physical Format Information (Last Recorded):
                          Book Type: DVD-R

I'm awaiting the scan patiently while I chuckle at everything you said above it.
