I just got one of those new wrapped(neon) 100 packs this weeks from officemax, they had been only available in 50 packs the last few months, the font on the LOCK indicates prodisk(no feet), that 6X burn looked similar to what I am seeing for a few disks, just not very consistent media.
Your tests are showing 12X to be the safest burn speed with those newer drives.

max might get you into a little trouble with a bad disk
