I started to buy them today, but chickened out, the verbatim might be better tho, if you get a good batch. LT swears by the sony tho, they might be more consistent. I guess I will just have to make do with these old crappy dvd-r's.

the benq's or the nec should do well with the sony's.

I also saw DL by sony make in Singapore there, I will buy another Verbatim 100 16x- ( I still like verbatim-)at the bestbuy near my house and see which one is better

Chewy is Verbatim 16x v.s the Sony 16x which is better? if you are consider them as b+ grade what dvd writer is good for them? ( I bought 100 sony 16x+ from Comp. USA insteed of that no name one

I've burned a few Sony coded D21's. These are on the taiwanese spindles of sony +1x-16x accucore. ok media.

According to my scans,4x burning seems to have the fewest errors. 8x is okay,but I wouldn't dare try 12x or 16x burning with these.

i wish i would have saved them to post...Arggggg

flashing in safe mode makes about as much sense as unloading a gun before you clean it

Had a step/brother in law that didn't unload the gun before he cleaned it. Had being the key word. Not a good thing.

The couple times I have flashed I've been in safe mode. Better safe then sorry!

tell you the truth I never figure out how my Dell go to safe mode, I am just lucky I guess

If you ever need to here's how:

To use the System Configuration Utility to start Windows XP in Safe mode

1. Close all open programs.
2. Click Start > Run.
3. In the Run dialog box, type msconfig and then click OK.
4. In the System Configuration Utility, on the BOOT.INI tab, check /SAFEBOOT.
5. Click OK.
6. When you are asked to restart the computer, click Restart.

The computer restarts in Safe mode. (This can take several minutes.) When you are finished working in Safe mode, use the System Configuration Utility to start Windows XP in normal mode.

To use the System Configuration Utility to start Windows XP in normal mode

1. Finish what you need to do in Safe mode.
2. In the section "To use the System Configuration Utility to start Windows XP" above, repeat steps 1-7, but in step 4, uncheck /SAFEBOOT.
3. Close all programs, and restart the computer.


To use the F8 key to start Windows XP in Safe mode

1. Restart the computer.
Some computers have a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS. Others may not let you know what is happening.
2. As soon as the BIOS loads, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. If this happens, restart the computer and try again.
3. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, select Safe mode and then press Enter.

this last week 2 posters have reflashed in safe mode with the same firmware and fixed problems
