I have a Sony DUR-710, and have been using Verbatims 8x's for years. Now the store that I buy them from, just changed to Verbatims 16x's with (izo). When I took them home, my recorder didn't allow me to use them. Is it that my recorder is not compatible with it, or am I doing something wrong? If more info is needed, pleae let me know.

Sony DRU-710 is an 8x burner.
16x media are too recent for this burner. Almost certainly firmware don't support them. If a new firmware released by sony don't solve this issue, the best option for you is to buy only 8x certified media.
If you can't find anymore 8x media, the only option is to buy a new burner, because probably Sony will never release a new firmware for this old burner. -
firmware BYX5 supports both 16x dvd-r and dvd+r verbatim
flash in safe mode with disk removed from drive
very simple to verify
just download from codeguys stock rar file, inside is a raw bin file and mediacodespeededit
will read what mids are supportedAttached FilesLast edited by Chewy; 16 Jun 2006, 02:03 AM.Comment

I have a sony DRX-510 on the website I found this (4X DVD-RW media is not compatible for recording with your drive, please use 1X or 2X compatible DVD-RW media only.) does this mean I cannot use most of the media out there today? Can I fix this? tyComment
