    Emprex DVDRW 16X, burning problems

I have an Emprex DVDRW 16X from I/O Magic. I recently have been trying to make back up dvd's using dvdshirink and nero. The first DVD that I tried burned successfully, menus and all. From then on, I can barely get to 50% burning before it fails. I switched DVD+R brand from TDK to Verbatim, the difference is that it burns maybe 12% more of the DVD, but still fails even before 50%.

I have the A091 (the newest) firmware for my burner installed on my DVDRW drive from drvupdate.com, and I am running windows XP. I am getting pretty frustrated because I have tried numerous combinations of ripping and burning programs now and made about 20 coasters!

Is there something I dont know here? Should I try flashing to an earlier firmware? If so how do I do that? The program that Emprex has does not let me flash to previous firmware versions.

    Can someone please help me!?!?!?!?

Also here is the log from one of the failed burnings:

      we can try 2 things

this firmware which is newer A187, that burner is really made by BTC

and then remove the old sonic drivers from your computer

      Existing drivers:
      File 'Drivers\ASPI32.SYS': Ver=4.60 (1021), size=25244 bytes, created 6/26/2006 11:42:54 PM

since that's a usb burner you might try 2x as a speed if possible
