        @helpless1

        When you choose to burn DVD-ROM (ISO), you have a few options to choose on the "Multisession" tab of the New Compilation. If you want to write many times to a same disc until it full, when you initially write any file to a disc very first time, choose "Start Multisession disc". Then later when you want to write some more to that disc, select "Continue Multisession disc" to write more files to that disc. But what if you want to write only one time and close the disc ( no more writing on this disc), select "No multisession". This action will finalize the disc. You choose this option if you want to give the disc to someone else because not all the DVD drives can read multisession DVDs

          thanks ben.
          unfortunately after further seaching, my problem is better described by saying that the new disk shows 1 file, "track01.cda" in properties it is 44bytes but the driver shows it as being 1.99gb with no space available to write to the disk. it seems that others have posted similar problem elsewhere but i still haven't found a solution

              i probably posted in the wrong forum.
              i think windows doesn't like dvd writer. tried using device manager to update driver and it uses mscdrom.inf. so when you put blank dvd in it doesn't know what to do with it.
              o/s windows me
              dvd philips dvdr1660
              nero7 worked for about 20 disks including films data and audio cd.
              i have read on other forums and others have had similar problem but have yet to find answer.
              sorry to confuse the thread.

                  that's what windows keeps telling me. but they are all new blank dvds, and if if open them with nero they show as blank and ready to go until i try to write to them. then nero spits them out and tells me there is no space.
