I got 2 problems
everytime I try to burn a dvd I can't because it gives me a message that there is no dvd in the driver when actually it is inserted
I've tried so many programs and it gives me the same error.
Also I used Nero and during the process the computer shut down
Please help...I don't know what to do anymore (currently I'm using Ulead DVD MovieFactory)

your drive may be dying or programs may be killing it

or try another drive in your computer or try your drive in another computer

You know, sometimes my pc will not recognize advd in the drive.
So, I reboot, and somehow this seems to work.
Just a thought, as Chewy is the expert here.

Chewy is way more of an expert then I am but when I was having a similar problem I needed a firmware update? Have you tried to update your firmware? Link to check for updates in my signature

Another Twist!!!!

For those using a Laptop,and External Burner (like me) sometimes no recognition that blank is inserted in burner.......what solves the problem is to disconnect the external burner,and replug...for some wierd reason it then recognizes it. (This doesn't happen too often,and prob won't work if you're not using a EB).

You never said if you had updated your firmware lately? Have you ever been able to back up a dvd? Have you changed your blank media you use?

I was never able to burn a dvd
this was my first time but as it seems It's unsuccessful

chewy is saying that the devices you have won't work.

you have

a CD writer (not DVD)
a DVD ROM (reader Only) not a writer/recorder.

you need a DVD WRITER, usually it has it's own CD reader/writer built in. so it's kind of universal that way.
