Hi guys, I've search this forum and still need help. This maybe a silly question but here goes. On printable media there is a choice between white or silver, which type produces the best quality picture? My guess would be the white or does it even matter? thanks guys PS thanks for all the good sites to buy blank media.

i used this before, but quit a while back. in my experience at least, i thought the white was much nicer."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Jack The Ripper - 1888

yes, i hate sharpies. all of mine are in the bush out back. i feel they look sloppy. instead, i use wee envelope labels, tidy, cheap and safe."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Jack The Ripper - 1888

Personally it depends what the label looks like.
If the label is one of those with tons of silver in it, chances are it won't scan right in my scanner, in which case I use the silver surface becasuse it looks somewhat more real than on a white label.
But if it has bright colors or a white background I use the white ones.
It all comes down to the fact that a Verbatim 50-pack silver printable CD-R pack was $9.99 while the white ones were far moreCYA Later:

I don't know which one they use, but an Epson R220 can print directly to CD/DVD media, and if you have a Sam's Club around you, they sell them there. You can pick one up for around $90. It is a photo printer, 6 ink, 5760 x 1440 dpi(if I remember correctly).Comment

Epson R300 prints brilliant on White DVD's, (never tried silver). The ink dires almost imediately certainly dry enough to play just after printing. Personaly I think it makes the end product look more professional. I just filmed a friends wedding, with a picture of the happy couple on the disk and text giving time, date and place made them even more happy.
Big problem here (UK) is getting GOOD media, at present using Verbatim MCC 03RG20 dye white printable. I did get some TY but found them mediocre with my NEC 4551.Part of my DVD collection

I have not up dated the firmware yet, this is the second drive, the first one packed in after two weeks. I usually burn at x4 but the Disk Quality varies anything from 95% to 50% same data, same drive, same speed, same disk batch etc.. I don't understand why. I will up date the firmware shortly and see what difference it makes.Part of my DVD collection
