Nero 6 "Illegal Disc" Error

I give up
Thanks Chewy, sorry to have doubted you. I downloaded the file you recommended. Re-flashed the drive in Safe Mode. The computer now recognizes it as a LiteOn drive, and my version of Nero (which came with my Sony drive) won't work since it runs only with Sony drives. So I download and install the trial version of Nero 7. After all that...I get the same error (see log below). At this point I give up and will probably just buy a new drive.
One last favor, can anyone recommend a good external DVD burner to get? Ideally I would like to get one that would also burn dual layer DVDs and would like to stay with a USB interface.
Thanks for all of your help.
