I don't know why the DMA setting won't change. Do you have any ideas.

transfer mode is "DMA if available" THe current transfer mode which is the next box down and directly under it says PIO Mode. I have unistalled it and reboot about 5 times now. It will not change. Should it be like this or not.

well i lost the serial number. is there a way to get it from the software on the computer

I will tell you what I do I just reinstall without uninstaling nero and when it gets to the point of asking the serial# it will remember it and show it to you just write it down and close everything then uninstall your old nero then use clean tool and install the new Nero version 6.6.0.18

you mean my burner. or what. I had a HD installed last year by a friend but other than that it came like this from DELL

What operating system do you have? WinXP will fix your DMA automatically, unless your disk controller has DMA set by BIOS. In which case, you need to go into the BIOS and make sure it is set to UDMA.

how are the drives jumpered? dell put in both opticals?

i have windows xp. Jumpered? Opticals? Sorry i don't know all the lingo

i tried the update for nero butit gave me the same stupid error message. I can't delete or anything.

ok i have 2 drives. One is a 36gb drive that has been partition due to an istalllation of Linux. Now i have a 12 Gb dive and a 24 gb drive. THe 12 gb is the master. The 24 is now just like my other drive. Does that help

there are little jumpers on the drives that need to be set, if they are set wrong, you will have problems like you are having with dma

find someone to check it out for you that has done this before

or read and google(for a few hours)
