problem with back ups

Hi

Used the ripit4me software last night for first time, everything appeared to go well, dvdshrink played the preview when working and the whole movie was there. However disc i created will not run on either PC or DVD Player, shows on DVD player the contents of the disc are audio.ts and video.ts, really a newbie to all this and would appreciate some help please

There are should be 2 folders after ripping with RipIt4Me: VIDEO_TS (with .IFO, .BUP, and .VOB files) folder and empty AUDIO_TS folder. You can burn (1) your creation with Nero, (2) use DVD Shrink to create an ISO file and burn it with ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter, or (3) watch it with your favorite DVD playing program or Media Player Classic

Sounds more like a media capability problem.

thanks, dont think its a media problem, been using these for ages. The only difference from what I normally do is the use of RI4M in the process. Unfortunately i didnt keep the files to try again as i was using a laptop with only 40gig. Maybe try my desktop next time.

Sorry only seem to have logs from the decrypt and from the RI4M processes, however as I said when running dvd shrink the preview showed that the whole film was there, mind you it was the Pink Panther which i notice has been causing all sorts of headaches elswhere in the forum!!

If it made it into DVD Shrink OK, then it was not a ripping issue.

Looks like the problem was pilot error!! didnt realise that as I had only ripped the movie it wouldnt autostart, had to manually start it, DOH!!!

I too am a newbie to using Ripit4me after unsucessful attempts of backing up Ultraviolet using Shrink/DVD Decrypter alone. I tried the One Click method and the Wizard and the result each time was Audio and Video.ts files on the DVD. I managed to create an ISO file on the Hard Drive and then opened DVD Decrypter to burn but somehow once again got the .ts files? I now have 4 DVD's with the same files and can not figure out how to play them on the pc and definately not on home DVD player. I am sure there is something stupid I am missing, please help? Below is the log from my last burn in DVD Decrypter from the ISO file which generated the .ts files on the DVD.

I don't think it is the disks, but I am not a guru either. I have burnt near 200 DVDs using DVD43/ICopyDVD's, or DVD Shrink/DVD Decrypter all using these same exact crappy DVDs. The only times I have had problems in the past were with Sony/Disney DVD's before I started using Shrink/Decrypter and now RipIt4Me. Therefore I doubt this is a DVD quality issue, but once again I am not an expert. Just for reference I just ordered some Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R DVD01X0374 since I am down to my last few crap DVDs which actually are not a significant amount cheaper at the local office supply store. this caught my eye

but there is another newer frimware if they will work on your drive

Thanks for the heads up on the update! I am downloading and installing the Dell firware, not ready to roll the dice on the other one unless someone could tell me for sure it was compatiable. I still doubt the issue with this particular burn is related, do you? I mean the DVDs burned with no issues I am just getting the wrong file types for some reason. I really thought it has to be a setting somewhere? Thanks again for the links to the updates!
