DVD +-R/+-RW Burning/Reading much slower

My TSST Corp H552B Internal dvd drive that came with my e-Machine T-6522 started to run very slow about 2 months ago and I can't find a suitable explanation. Discussions with eMachine haven't helped much. Does anyone know what could cause a drastic slowdown like i'm experiencing, it takes about 1hour 15 mins to do what I used to do in 30 mins. Any suggestions.
