I have a 160G hard drive pioneer dvd recorder, worked great movies under 2hr it would burn in 6min. It started giving error message cannot complete copy, then in a few days it may make a copy.

Just wondering if anyone has one of these and could pass some info on

no, its a stand a stand alone.

Have you contacted the manufacturer???

Sometimes the manufacture has an upgrade for the standalone's RAM.

The real problem is that it may say Sony DVD-r on the outside but the disc could be manufactured by different companies. See this link at Videohelp about Sony DVD-r discs.
