Small Problem with Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1673S

I have the above drive and it has given me consistent 95 - 98 burn scores. The problem comes up when it has to "insert dummy sectors". When I get one of these with this drive the read speed drops to 0 and it doesn't start back.

I have 2 other readers that go through this step without a hitch. I have tried every read speed from 1X to MAX with the same results. If this drive hits one of the dummy sectors I have to cycle the power on the drive to get it functioning again.

    Firmware is up to date.

I hope I made that plain and thanks in advance.

are you using stock liteon firmware? what's the exact firmware?
This is weird, I assume you are using ripit4me on a newer protection?
    They are mean disks.

      I am using version JS0D from http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2026

and yes this occurs with the Arccos protection. RipIt starts and creates the psl file then DVDD starts ripping. When it gets to one of the files where it has to insert a dummy sector my read speed drops to zero and the program hangs. It takes a power cycle to clear the drive. Reboot doesn't do it.

If the disc is in either of my other two drives the same thing happens except after about ~5 seconds it inserts the dummy and continues on normally. The 2 older drives have no trouble.

PS - This has occured on every disc that required the insertion of a dummy sector.

I would try a reflash in safe mode or crossflash to a 1693

Will the 73 take the firmware for the 93 safely? and would you recomend most recent version (KS0B)?

I have the JSOD firmware saved and will try it in safe mode.

            I would try that first

            for crossflashing study up here

the plain ksob patched/crossflashed would be one choice
