Most seems OK. I guess your burner doesn't like the media. Try Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens.

That burner is getting old. Might need a clean or replacement.

You have Roxio installed on your machine, it is known to create conflicts with other burning apps...especially Nero. I would suggest using Roxio Zap to remove Roxio from your computer in it's entirety.

that nero log is strange, are you trying to burn an iso made by shrink?

it's not identifying the media either, that unusual for an nec 3520 with latest firmware and fuji blanks?

really need more information

i was burning a quicktime movie and winamp media files. thanks for the info about the roxio thing.

if you can use cdspeed or dvdinfo or another program to read the mid code for those fuji blanks we can open that firmware and see if they are supported

At first, the media was not recognized at all in my NEC 3520A. After updating with the newest modified firmware, I am able to burn at a full 16x. Quality has been pretty consistent, but I still burn at 8x to be on the safe side.

so i updated nero, removed roxio, updated my firmware twice.

the last firmware update got me further. it passed 20% and went to 43% and i was like zomg go chewy! then it stopped working again. :[ should i just get a new one? maybe new dvds?
