    DVD Burner/Nero problem?

I've been trying to record a DVD-R on Nero Smart Start from Nero Vision Express 2, I believe. The transcoding works very quickly, but when it starts to actually record it tells me that it will take 7 hours to finish. And then, I leave it running, assuming it will be done in the am (I let it run while I go to bed) it's still going. This morning I left it and it was still going after 22 hours! I finally aborted it, but I don't want to keep ruining DVDs. Can anyone help with a possible solution?

I cannot locate the history file...my Nero is called Nero Express and I used the Nero Smart Start to record the dvd. I didn't get any errors during the recording. It just took an extremely long time and seemed to get stuck halfway through, I aborted it at that point.

How is that possible? Doesn't it finalize during burning?

Bumping this back up to see if I can get any help. I've since tried once more to burn the DVD and this time it ran for 21 hours. Before I abort the burn, it is recording just fine. I can play the recorded portion in the DVD player and it plays beautifully. I don't get any error messages, it just seems to take an abnormally long time to burn.

you have your terminology all mixed up

are you trying to convert avi's(mpeg4's) with vision?

vision can output to hard drive, then use nero to burn to dvd

bottom line, we need a burn log

Obviously...I'm new at this. I don't believe I've been converting anything. I could be wrong though. I was told I needed to show a log file before and I can't find one. When I go into Nero's history all I can find are log files for CD's I have made. Where should I be looking?

K..I checked the DMA following your instructions...and it wasn't set properly. It is now.

Now, I'm reading the how to burn link you provided...is DVD shrink a program I should have on the computer or something in Nero? Sorry for so many questions.

Dvd Shrink is a program, you won't find it in Nero but you will find it here.

Wow...okay...I'm more confused than ever. I downloaded DVD shrink, but I don't know that it can help me. What I'm trying to burn are video files from my computer. They aren't in .VOB or .ISO, most of them are .AVI or .WMV. They are just small files from off of TV that I have saved in my music file on the comp.

use vision to convert and save as dvd files to your hard drive, then use nero to burn a video dvd
