DVD+-RW won't detect +DL

Hey guys,

I'm running a NEC DVD+-RW ND-3550A that is supposed to be able to use +-DL DVD's. When I stick the DVD+R DL's in the drive, it gives me an error message that goes something like "incorrect function", and Nero detects them as CD-R's. What gives?

[EDIT] My laptop which also has a DL drive can't make it work either , I upgraded the firmware to 1.06 to no avail.

OPen ImgBurn in write mode. Stick disk in drive. Please report what ImgBurn says in top right.

Ritek I dont know, but you can use imgburn to burn DL, that is the best DL solfware you can get

Ritek DLs are lousy. Buy Verbatims and you should be OK. Make sure firmware is up to date (which it is).

Well it's burning right now so we'll see what happens....

It burned but now it doesn't play I burnt this DL disk from an image I extracted from the original DVD using Nero. I used ImgBurn like you said. Attached is the log from my burn. The original and burnt DVD seem identical in content, so I can't unerstand why the new DVD won't play.

My only idea is that the DL DVD needs to be closed? But since it is an image burn, doesn't it close it automatically or no? Doesn ImgBurn close these types of files automatically?

Imgburn closes all discs. What you should have done is make the ISO using DVD Decrypter. If you use RipIt4Me with DVD Decrypter, you can make ISO's of even Arcoss DVD's. Then use Imgburn 2 to burn the ISO by selecting the MDS file.

Also, use Verbatims DL+R's.
