    Burner

I have a LiteOn SOHW-1693S burner. I do not have good results burning DVD+ media. I have freezing and skips. I have used Verbatim and Sony DVD+ 16 media at various burn speeds. Dash media burns fine.

I am thinking about purchasing a new burner, either a NEC or Benq. Would I have better results burning + media with either of these burners? Or is my burn problem something to do with my computer?

what was used to burn? do you need to use +R? if you must, maybe a burner that allows you to booktype would be ideal

Chewy said something about fixing that LiteOn, could you post your most recent burn log?

Talk about blank DVD media, burning and hardware related problems

after reading this thread I am not sure if the firmware is corrupt or he got bad batches of dvd+r media?

let's try reflashing from safe mode, who know, sh!te happens.

the best firmware for liteons come from this site, they are very strong with the liteon force

honestly I don't think liteon really cares

I have a Lite-on 1693S. It worked fine for the first 5 months, but now I can not get it to burn anything. have tried evrything, from the many suggestions here. The last straw was last night, I re-installed all the lastest Nero software, (as the Lite-on tech guys suggested), then I used Nero Speed disc to create a data disc. Then I checked the quality and it came back as "0"
I checked a disc that i burned a few months ago, that is actually one of the discs that will play on my PC, LAptop and Home theatre. I ran dics quality check on it, it started to look good, at quality rating of 90, then as it got to around 80% done, the errors went into the red and it ended up with a score of "0".
So, I give up, I just bought a NEC1550A at Newegg (thanks for the tip) for $30. Hopefully this wil solve all my proiblems.

PS if anyone wants the 1693A, I'll sell it for $20 + free shipping.
it plays commercial DVD with no probelm, CDs too.
for burning DVDs I make no promises, maybe you can get it to work
