    L'Enfant, Region 1

I am trying to backup L'Enfant, Region 1, and I keep ending up with bad discs. I have run the disc through RipIt4Me, and have been successful at every step (apparently). The resultant movie files are fine when viewed through PowerDVD in folder mode. I have tried backing up 3 other movies using the same batch of discs, standalone DVD player (Apex, BTW), and software during this time with success. I have also tried using the latest versions of AnyDVD, CloneDVD2, and also Nero Recode with the exact same results in all cases. I feel that this DVD is particularly problematic in this respect....Here are my zipped logs...Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So are you saying that you are having a burning problem?

Based on the logs, there is nothing special that I can see. To me it sounds as a pure burning problem. What program do you use for the burning? What brand of discs do you burn on? If you are using Nero or ImgBurn, then post the latest burning log.

Dialysis1 - Yes, it is definitely a burning problem.

Miss Marple - I am using Maxell discs, and burning with Nero, where can I find my log to post...if you would be so kind...

              The burning seems to work.

              What is the problem then?

The problem is that the discs are not readable by my player, I have tried other backups just to be sure the player is working...it seems to be fine. It is just strange that the backups I made of Thumbsucker, Billy Elliot, and The Ring Two work fine. I am scratching my head the same as you. I guess either my burner took a dump since last night, or half my stack of Maxells are bad, as I am getting the same "Bad Disc" result every time now.

Before I try the update, I will attempt to burn again with different branded media, and check the new result. Since everyone is saying the logs are fine, I am assuming I got to a section of bad media in my cake, or the burner did in fact take a dump. I will rule out the media theory now, and report back....Thanks for the quick replys.

I couldn't find firmware update but there are better at it than me around here. If you do find an update, flash from safe mode, no disc in drive. What is the make & model # of your burner?

Sorry about that blutach, but at the time of posting I did not think it was a media problem...Actually it still may not be...I just burned one more on different media with the same result, "Bad Disc." I will pop another burner in there and try again with the original media <I think I have a Lite-On around here somewhere> and check again,..ty...Oh and thanks to you cynthia and soup!
                          Until next time...

If you play that DVD in your computer - does that work?

I haven't tried that, come to think of it, but if questioning the integrity of my stand alone player, I verified that by playing another backup I had as well as a press with success...but I will as soon as this next burn completes.
