    Can't Complete a burn.

Ok, I've about had it. I cannot complete a burn consistently for the life of me. First, the facts:
    • ABIT SG3 Mobo
    • AMD Sempron 2400+
    • 1GB RAM
    • Windows XP Pro Sp2 (all the latest updates)
    Now the more relevant facts:
    • Emprex 16X Dual layer burner (with the latest firmware)
    • Ultra DMA Mode 5 enabled
    • DVD Decrytper 3.5.4.0
    • ImgBurn 2.0.0.0
    • Memorex DVD DL+R discs
Ok. So when I've tried to burn an ISO that I ripped with Decrypter with both decrytper and imgBurn. I've checked each ISO by mounting them on a virtual drive and watching it through (not sure if that works, but it made sense at the time, plus i wanted to watch it). On both programs writing the lead in takes a year and a day (year and a day ~= 1.5 hours). Both error logs are below. I've changed the media twice, replaced the burner, shutdown every nonpertinent program (google descktop, virus scanning, etc), run through the golden rules of burning like it's my job.

I'm at my wits end. I do not want to go out and buy a new burner to bring it home and find out it's the same problem, or go and buy some outlandishly overpriced disks to again find out it didnt help. I've gone through sooooo many disks, about 3 of which have been successful.

    Please advise.

My suggestions would be not to be bothered with Nero to burn DL discs as nothing but problems. The other would be to toss the Memorex and get some Verbatims DLs as they are a lot more reliable than the Memorex. I see you are burning at 4X, try slower to let the heat dissipate more. Is your fan running?, an overheating problem inside your burner could be occurring.

Just suggestions as a shot in the dark.

Imgburn and verbatim for dual layer(only way to go) but you need a good burner.

        at least update the firmware

and why are you picking anything other than spti for the interface?

        the adapatec aspi is awful

at least nero did give us a clue, you have too many programs running in the background, way too many
