Is there a difference in quality for dvdrw or dvdr

Im new. I have searched and learned there is a big difference in brand. Is there a difference in using dvdrw or dvdr other than speed of burn. Is there a diff. in: replay on more brands of DVD Players, better quality of burn, smaller failure rate, etc..

    Thank you
    Tommy

By the way, this is an excellent group of forums. I wish I had found it many moons ago. I got very frustrated about a year ago and gave up. I have spent numerous hours learning this past couple of days and have a renewed interest in burning. I just ordered the Sony DRU 810A.

    welcome

to me it seems that rw's are a little less compatible with certain players vs r media. you just need to find ones that work best for you. the ones i use are just as reliable as any other of my discs. and a rw you can erase and re-write whereas a regular r disc cannot be.

      thanks

I am using RWs right now and will switch to R after I get the hang of this. If I had been using Rs I would have been out about 8 DVDs by now. I am hoping the new burner I ordered will help. My light on ldw 451s died when I tried to update the firmware.
