I would burn @4X for as long as the burner lasts if I am getting burns like that. Why take the chance on screwing it up.

TYG02 media are certified for 8x max burning speed. With benq 1640 it's possible to obtain good results also @12x (with overspeed enabled in qsuite), but 8x should be the best speed to burn these media.

Liteon burners up to 1693 model can do reliable scans only @4x. Only with subsequent liteon burners (the "6" series) it's possible to do scans @8x.

The 1693 is also a very reliable scanner for media. If you have comcerns about burning quality, you can keep this drive for scanning only.

Actually the liteon drive is more accurate for scannings; it's slower only because it must work at 4x to be reliable.

I'm planning to buy a "6" series burner

At CDfreaks the 6 series burners are used to do scans @8x, like benq drives.

Scans done @4x are still more accurate, but the ones done @8x are still reliable.

oops, I forgot to mention that the "6" series is able to measure also for Jitter

This measure can be done with a still "not-official" tool, but this tool is developed in CDFreaks forum by an engineer working at liteon (username is Wind at CDF); probably there will be an official tool soon.

There is already an extensive thread about this tool with a lot of jitter scans. Sorry, I don't have the link right now (I'm doing last pagination work of the cd-dvd speed guide ).

I'll publish it soon. Only some little time to update a couple of things introduced in latest version 4.60.
