Freezing Problem

Here is the process I have followed to backup 4 R4 DVD movies (shaggy dog, lord of war, the game & yours, mine ours). 1 click mode, full DVD, everything automatically (as I’m not really sure what I’m doing). I don’t have shrink loaded, so I uncheck that process. I then burn the resulting files with Nero Recode.

All 4 movies burned successfully and replayed perfectly for the first 90% of the movie. For each of them, towards the end, the movie freezes intermittently. Very annoying to say the least.

I have tried two different types of (cheap) media to no avail. Anyone else experiencing these problems?

I've used these media before (ie b4 RI4M) and had good results.

could it be something else?

out of that exact same batch, brand name means little as who actually makes them may change?

with cheap blanks you are just adding another variable that keeps you from telling what is going on?

your nero burn log might give some clues

i just find it bizarre...that it happened on all 4 movies; just for interest
im going to back up the same movie...with and without ri4m.

cheap blanks are usually problematic towards the outer part of the disk, compounded by burning too fast,

they freeze at the end?you could be burning to close to the edge of the disc.

<O</OOne of the movies is quite small, so I don’t think I’m burning too close to the edge. I just find it strange that on all 4 movies I’ve had the same problem.

Out of curiosity I backed up lord of war again, once using 1 click on ri4m and once just using dvdd; I interrupted the copy after a few seconds…. the ri4m log (in part) shows:

The dvdd log shows no protected errors or suspect areas.

I apologise for my stupidity now; but I was just wondering why does the ri4m log show suspect areas and without ri4m show no protected sectors or suspect areas;

same movie and both use dvdd

The RipIt4Me log shows that because that is the way the prog works.

This seems more like a media and burning issue.

PS. I backed up all of those R4s (except for Shaggy Dog) no worries. Read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning.
