Blank DVD Disc Question

Hello Everyone -

I just realized that I don't know the difference between a 4x disc and a 8x or 16x disc. Do those numbers refer to the speed at which the disc can be burned? Is there any reason for me to get a 16x disc if I always burn at the 4x speed?

I ask this because I just got a smoking deal on some good quality blank discs. The only down side (if you can call it that) is that they're 4x. Since I have my ImgBurn set to 4x, I thought these would be just right for me. Am I missing something here?

open imgburn and insert the blank and using write mode, copy and paste the right hand screen

only if the blanks are good, speed are factor but not a major

yes, but certain firmware and the drive itself may limit what speeds you can burn at.

I downloaded the whatever-it-is from Dell. I don't understand your message. What's a D.ON firmware? What did I just download? Thanks.

that is the version # of the latest firmware update for the dvd drive.
