firmware update

Hi, I'm trying to find out what the latest firmware is for a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N drive. The version that's on it is HQ04. Anyone know if this is a good drive, eg. ripping speed, successful burn rate, etc.? Been googling but no joy.

I tried to search for your driver but I ended up at the Japanese NEC site. Something about a NEC license manufactored burner. It was all in japanese.

Looks like the correct one to me katz....given the information provided, but as suggested I'd double check the burner model number before flashing.

using DVD Decrypter to find the firmware update; does it not take you to the correct one?

It brings me to the right one alright, but it says it's only for the nec oem drive only, which I dont know if mine is or not. and if it's not, does that mean that there are no updates for my drive, or should I be looking elsewhere?

If it is that driver - then you should look at the japanese Nec site - but that one is in pure japanese...

My drive is same in my S262.

I tested few firmwares, and my point of view the best is the HQ04. This can write the Ultra Speed CD-RW's

You can upgrade it without any problem

Cheers for your help folks, its not that I've had any problems yet(only have it 2 days), was just wondering if there was an updated firmware for the drive. Looks like, as chewy said, I've got the best one on it. Many thanks, much appreciated,
