    QSI drive won't read backup

Hi all, my first post, but i have been lurking here for a while to gleen all the great info.

The OE on my gateway laptop, QSI SDW 082 DVD burner will no longer read my backups. Using CL power DVD6, i am able to watch the original copies, but not the backups. I've tested with backups that were previously working. error messages are either 'no disc in drive,' or 'cannot read file type.'
windows explorer also shows no disc in drive.
CD audio plays fine. and data cd is also readable.

    Anyone else experience this?

also, i'm generally using DVD43 with DVDshrink to backup. Sometimes using RIpit4me.

I have not tried these in particular in another drive. I will when I get a chance.

I have tried other backups burned with the same programs, and on the same media in another PC drive, and they play fine.

Thanks a bunch Chewy, that's what i need. 'Come here you big lug!'

now I know the drive is pure crapola. Fortunately, I have an HL-ST-DT that i can replace it with. BTW, my firware is LX44. I thought the DVD's burned so slow because of my processor, but it seems this drive is very slow.
