Fails at end of burning process; please see Nero log

    Hi,
I'd like to get advice on a problem I've just encountered with my burner. A while back, I bought some Memorex DVD-R 16x's that wouldn't work with my burner. On Memorex's advice, I upgraded the firmware for my burner, and I was able to successfully burn a disc from that batch. I've now tried again, and only 1 out of 4 attempts have been successful. I use DVD Shrink linked to Nero to burn, and the burn process keeps failing at the end (ruining the disc, of course ). The one time out of those 4 it burned was when I was burning from files saved to my hard drive rather than going directly from the source disc. But I've since tried doing that again with no luck. I'm wondering if anyone thinks this could be another firmware problem or something else. I'd greatly appreciate any help.

    Thanks,
    Meghan

Nero log to follow in a reply since it's too long to be included...

that's a liteon 1653 and you can crossflash it but it's complicated, sony abandoned firmware support 6 months before liteon.

        your call

How much risk is involved with this crossflash? I've got nearly a hundred of these discs, so I hate to just throw them away (doubt they'd have much resale value). But if there won't be clear, step-by-step instructions and relatively low risk of messing up my burner for good, then I think I may just have to settle for buying new media...

Unfortunately, that's just not really in the budget right now.

old burner and new disc is not a very good combination, buy old disc 8x or under
