Problems with DVD Shrink. Write error, Could my burner be shot????

Here is a copy of my error log. Everytime I try to burn I get this. Could it be because my burner is shot? Or is it the programs. The media I use are Sony DVD+R.

Might be a good idea to read The Golden Rules.

I have read the golden rules and cant seem to trouble shoot any of my problems.

I went through the device manager and everything is set to DMA, but my secondary device 1 is at Ultra DMA Mode 2 and device 2 is set to DMA if available but it reads out PIO only. I uninstalled it and it didn't fix the problem. Anything else I can try? Should I just get a different burner?

            2. Make sure your burner's firmware is up to date (see here).

            3. Make sure DMA is on for all devices on all IDE channels (see here).

Don't get me wrong guys. I'm not a dummy with the links and I do know how to search for things. But with this copying stuff, I am lost. Yes I checked out the link and then I registered with the firmware forum and searched for my burner. A lot of them are listed, but not mine.

I have DVD X Copy and about 6 months ago it quit burning. Error after error. Must be the new codes or something. This is why I got into finding something new to use. I found DVDFab Decrypter, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and RipIt4Me. Nothing seems to work and I have been thinking I should get a different burner. This one I have has been used a lot. Is there any possability some of my probs could be from an old wore out burner?

If you're not interested in the details, but just want to fix this problem as quickly as possible:

download imgburn after updating your firmware and load a blank in and paste the right screen into a reply

                      what speed are those sonys?

very possible but the firmware update might help, even it's old for trying to burn 16x media

the sonys are DVD+R Ver. 3.1/ 1x-16x speed. I try to burn at 4x. I went into my BIOS and got my system to switch the drive to UDMA mode. Let's hope this works.

As for the Firmware, still can't find it for my drive, but I am buying a new burner soon anyway. I plan on buying a nice Sony burner.

                            midnight,

klypermedia just puts their name on products
LT gave you the link for the firmware

your old version is Version: 10sB

lt's link has a 14SB (see the naming sequence) that's how it works usually

extract the file after downloading and boot into safe mode and flash the empty drive

I updated my firmware sucessfully. I went into my BIOS and everything reads out as UDMA. I am still having problems. I burned with Shrink and it completed successfully, but when I played the movie back, it played the picture but for the sound, it was commentary. That was weird. LOL. I tried again and it said 100% success writing, but it didn't finalize the disc, so it won't read it in my player.
