And I am also trying to figure if any driver would be the problem, with no result atm.

first exactly what did you ask nero to do?

          what blanks were you using?

has that old nec drive seen a lot of use?

I asked Nero to burn a cue image of a CD.
The nec drive did indeed burn hundreds of CDs and DVDs, but the plextor responding the same way with the same errors wasn't used much.

I am thinking of a full reinstall at the moment...

Blanks I am using look pretty cheap.
            Is written on it:
            Premiumline
            CD-R recordable disc
            max 48 speed
            80 min
            700MB
            versie 1.2"

I apologize by advance for the unintended advertising (its cheap CD anyway...). I just tried to be exhaustive.

you are clean on the filters

try a regular audio cd burn with nero and those blanks, not sure about your cue file?

I am currently burning a CD with the wav files and WITHOUT the cue files.
I set the track-at-once setting instead of the problematic disc-at-once.
So it does seem to work at the moment.

I am very happy that this already work, so I warmly roar you a thanks, chewy.

Still, I am puzzled by the impossible disc-at-once.
It is a valuable option for me as I backup full CDs and then burn them.
This is the only way CDs can actually be recognized as original and identified by CDDB and such just like they were made.

What is your guess here on the problem?

I just tell nero to copy it, it makes an image if I don't have 2 drives to do it on the fly.

                        Nero Version: 7.0.1.4
                        little old and buggy

If I mount an image with daemon tools and ask nero to copy it, it might work then? Or do you use nero to mount that image?

I am getting the 7.5.7.0 version then

nero just makes a temp image file for copy on the fly when you only have one drive(or specify one drive for reading and burning)

just tell it you want to copy a cd with nero express
