Step-Up DVD

I backed up the movie Step-up with ripit4me and everything went OK. During playback on my DVD player the movie is fine until it freezes twords the end and I have to close the player. Can anyone attempt to troubleshoot this rare issue with Ripit4Me. I have attached the rip log and the Fix VTS log for further info. Appreciate any help..Thanks...Frank

You could start by this: take all your CMC discs to the garden and use them to practice your shooting skills, but don't use them to burn something on.

Your firmware is way out of date, you're trying to burn way to fast but it won't let you & as mentioned above you are using crappy media. Time to read & use The Golden Rules for starters. To be continued.

I agree. Id change media. i use verbatim.
Plus, set in shrink so that you are not burning so close to outer edge:
In shrink, go to:
edit,
preferences
change target size to custom, and type 4350

this part tells it all
and the advise given so far is just going to confuse the original poster

firmware being out of date and the burn speeds not being identified correctly
are the first issue to be addressed

that burner burns the crapiest media better than any burner from my experience

from this link we see that he is using 16 x dvd-r

now after the firmware flash he's going to be burning at 16x and that's crap with such iffy media, even with the lg 4163B

Thanks for your comments guys but I'm not going to attempt any firmware update just yet, sounds complicated and can cause damage to the burner if not done correctly. I did however lower the burn speed to 2.4x and tried another burn with the same crappy media and playback is just fine. Guess you have to expect a few bad disks once in a while..Thanks for all your help and have a great Christmas..Frank

BTW I have that burner and it will not allow you to burn those discs above 4X.

LG was smart in that aspect as they know CMC MAG are crap too!!

Buy quality so you do not have to redo your work (like you will have to do with this one) The few pennies you save will cause a lot of heartache in the future.

I use Verbatims 8X DVD+Rs bitset to DVD-ROMs (burnt at 4X). This burner loves them!!! (But it even does better with the 16X Verbs burnt at 4X)

you are right, I downloaded those firmwares(only 2 were available) and looked at the media codes, I knew there weren't any overspeeds already
but there were only a few dash R's supported above 4X


verbatim, sony and ty are all supported

the +R speeds are all supported even for crappy media
