    Nero 7 SDK

Can the nero 7 SDK be used instead of the entire nero 7 program to burn movies with IMG TOOL BURN? I do not want to pay the 90 dollars for nero when the only thing I use it for is to burn with another program. I don't need or want any of the other software options given with nero 7. Any suggestions?

You can use ImgBurn to burn with. It now has a build mode. See my signature for links to ImgBurn.

I don't fully understand or like that program and would like to stick with using IMG Tool Burn. Right now I use DVD Shrink and do not shrink to .ISO files. So it would cause longer copying times.

      Anything else you can suggest?

I did go ahead and try the program on my computer, and I don't think its a strong enough computer. After I select all the files and tell it to burn to device, the screen jumbles and the computer shuts off. So is there any other way to use Nero api files?

not sure what the problem is with your computer, I used imgburn in build mode
but selected output to dvd burner

          I monitored with task manager/performance&processes

the build part lasted just a second since imgburn does that on the fly, there was a slight spike in cpu use

even burning at 8x it was only using 50 megs of ram and about 8-10% cpu, but I had other programs running

I never got imgburn to work on that computer. I'm still unable to use it as everytime I tell it to burn the screen gets jumbled and the computer restarts. Is there no way to download or someone could send me the .api files that IMG tool burn needs from Nero?

I can't imagine that even if you had the api files that it would be any better than imgburn

you must have been trying to use build mode and output an iso to your hard drive

check the guides again and give it a go, even people with newer computers and nero tend to prefer imgburn

I think I prefer the other cause its what I learned to use, and the only I know. I will attempt it again. Even if its not as good a program, is there any way to get just the API files?

Nero API allows all features of the Nero SDK without requiring the installation Nero Burning ROM or Nero Vision Express on your PC. It is only available to commercial software developers who order a certain minimum quantity per month.

                      looks like a catch 22

can use sdk if you already have nero?

SDK is the one used in DVD Shrink and also requires that the end user have Nero installed. SDK is freeware.

so I can't have just the API files without nero installed? that sucks

There is a similar program that is freeware
