I apologize - I'm new to this site. Would you be so kind as to tell me what the "right forum" might be?

Since the burner is only 11 months 'old', perhaps I need to find different media . I've tried Verbatim, Ridata and TDK - all with the same results. Can you suggest "better media"?

          Thanks.

moved to blank media and burning

I thought it might be firmware related but the newer dell firmware is only a couple of months difference,

              104C might help

ritek's are very iffy, expect some failures, better to burn at 4x with them

did dell assemble it and is it still under warranty?

I'll try your suggestion. But I AM curious, and am always conscious to observe proper forum etiquette - where would the moderator move my thread to? I'm using RipIt4Me, and I'm having a problem backing up my dvds, so what would be the proper forum?

                Thanks again.

                      That's very kind. Thanks.

Tried burning at 2X, and with Verbatim media - still with no luck. I'm thinking of getting a new burner (any suggestions would be greatly appreciated). At least though, with your and Night Train's indulgence, I've learned that the problem is not related to RipIt4Me, but is instead a problem with my burner and/or media.

you need to try imgburn or dvdd to burn? before buying new burner? always burn half speed of media rated speed ( only with imgburn or dvdd) nero is hard to say

definitely try a burn with ImgBurn, your version of nero may be buggy

                            rosariorose9, welcome to the forums.

It seems you're using ASPI Ver=4.71. Try to switch to 4.60 as that version is known as the most stable aspi-layer.

Then, burning speed. It's not true that burning slower will give you a better result. You just have to do some tests with your burner and the media you choose, on different speeds. Then check the quality. Plextools, DVDInfopro, Nero CD Speed are excellent tools to do this. There is a guide for Nero CD Speed in the stickies of this forum.

Media Quality. Taiyo Yuden is known as the best media available, though MMC dye is also very good. Always check the media code when you buy blank discs (TYG02, Yuden0003, etc...).

Once you find a combination that gives you satisfaction, stick to it. Don't change media because you find another brand that's a little bit cheaper.

If this doesn't bring you the solution, I hope at least you'll find something useful in it.

Oh, and as already has been told in this thread: forget Nero and try ImgBurn.

                            Good luck!

Bought new media (Verbatim LightScribe DVD+R). Shrunk the RipIT4Me file to ISO. Then tried to burn it, this time using ImageBurn instead of Nero. Once again I failed Log follows:
