Newbie having trouble burning

Ok so I haven’t burned any DVD’s in about 2 ½ years. I was used to using dvdshrink and bam all done. I’ve spent the last three days trying to figure this out and am at the end of my rope. I have enough coasters to throw a tea party at Buckingham palace. I’m running ripit4me, with dvdd ,fixvts, dvd shrink using nero. I get to the burning portion of dvd shrink after encoding and my dvd burner regurgitates the DVD-R media almost instantly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well that's a 2 1/2 year old burner with new blanks
the 2.0A firmware should help, especially since nero is trying to burn a dash r disk at a +r speed
I would update nero from the link at the top of this forum also

as soon as you use up those bad blanks, get some taiyo yuden or verbatims

Used my my old dvd-r's from 2 1/2 years ago no problems.
Updated nero, still have the same issue with the new media.
I'll update the firmware like you sugested and see if that will fix it. thanks for your help!

the firmware is the key, it tells nero and the drive how to handle the blank

if they thought that a -r media could be burned at 2.4x then something is bad wrong

June 02, 2005, the date of the first reference to those cmc mag's that I could find

the only reference to your firmware was from 2004, before those blanks were ever conceived, of course your burner can not handle them, that's why updating the firmware was a must do first step



your log said Illegal disc

at least you aren't wasting any good media, just your time

I see on the link you listed that there is a maddog update for dells. Will that work?
I contacted Maddog tech support and they were not to helpful there advice was to buy 8X DVD'rs they said they don't have any updates for the drive.

updated the firmware to 2f9 and everything seems to be working now. thanks for all your help, you saved my burner a trip out the window!
