biggest dvd file that can be burned to 4.7gb?

(this is probably out there somewhere but my keywords search isn't finding me what i need to know.)

what is the largest .iso that can be burned to a 4.7gb disc? i created a compilation disc that is 4692mb. me thinks this is going to be too big to burn to a 4.7gb disc because of the "lead in" and whatever is done to finalize the disc.

or will it just fit? (i wound up with this size file because i picked the episodes i wanted and they added up to 4.58gb and i thought, "just right!". but i forgot that dvdstyler adds bulk also as it creates the .iso. i can get rid of one episode, no prob, but i don't want to if i don't have to, so advice is needed.)

Have you thought about using Shrink to fit it to the disk?

You may want to look at this. I think it is old, but does give some good info.

The official DVD FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions about DVD) of the Internet DVD newsgroups. The most comprehensive source of DVD technical information in the galaxy. By Jim Taylor.

    Hope this helps.

thanks for the info. maybe i am not asking the question correctly. 4.7gb does not translate into 4700mb, it is some other number close to that, but not exactly that and i can't find my conversions bookmark.

i needed to know if 4692mb is less than what 4.7gb translates to. but it is moot at this point, because the input was 4692mb, but the output turned out to be 4806468kb which seems to be 4.58gb which fits just fine.

(btw: dvd shrink wouldn't work with the input files.)

Glad it worked out for you.

What I meant was after you made your .ISO, you should have been able to open it with shrink, and compressed if needed.

But, as I said glad you got it worked out.

well, actually no it didn't work. turns out 4.7gb is 4448mb of space on the disk, so my file was too big. but, good to know that i can now shrink that .iso with dvd shrink.
          thanks.
