Sorry for the obviously 'newbie' dumb question, but can someone point me to a decent FAQ or simple 'how to' on upgrading the firmware? I'm about to order one of the recommended burners, and want to make sure I have the most up-to-date firmware 'loaded'.
Thanks very much.

You can use DVD Decryptor or imgburn to check your firmware. All you have to download your firmware then go in to safe mode and make sure no DVDs are in the drive and open the exe and don't touch your pc until it's doneAttached FilesComment

Thanks, BR7. By the way, just ordered your recommended Lite On burner. Hope I have better luck with it than I have had with the stock one which came with my Dell.

Just installed my new Liteon drive and already upgraded the firmware and burning right now, but can someone recommend a good media for Lightscribe? I've never dealt with that media before. Supermediastore.com pushes Phillips brand pretty hard......Husker Nation is Strong!

The Verbatim Lightscribe would be good media to use.Comment

Here's the 1st scan. I know there's another thread for this but thought I would throw it on here anyway. I think it's a good scan. What do you think?Husker Nation is Strong!

Thats not bad for that media I found burning at 8x gives me the best results with TYG02.Do you have Force Hyper Tuning and Online Hyper tuning enabled. This way it will learn the media and get better each time you burnComment
