    DVD+R question

    Hello -

Is the only difference between a 4X and 8X blank disc the speed at which you can burn or is the 8X disc a better quality disc? Can I expect 4X disc to last as long as an 8X disc?

    Thanks.

It depends on the burner AND the MID of the disc.

The best way to test is to use Nero CD/DVD Speed. Try different speeds with the same MIDs codes.

Its been a while, and if I remember correctly, if you have a Plextor optical drive and you use PlexTools Professional alone with the Plextor drive.

One of the sub-menu in PlexTools Professional would give you what Plextor thought was the fastest burn rate without problems using a particular model of Plextor drive and using the type of DVD media you want to use.

PlexTools Professional would also log in the type of media you have used with that particular model Plextor drive.

From my viewpoint, 8X or 16X burn rate media, and I prefer DVD+R media for book type settings/bitsettings to trick players/recorders to think its a DVD-ROM disk and should play on almost any age of player/recorder.
